CONTEXTUAL PERSPECTIVE OF THE WORLD TECHNOLOGY FORUM (GHANA, WEST AFRICAN SUB-REGION AND THE AFRICAN CONTINENT)
  1. Ghana is a country at the Centre of the World which is a great opportunity to promote event tourism to enable us to gain global attention.
  2. Ghana is the host country of the world’s largest continental and international trade single market system which necessitates the need to apply technology for its development and transformation.
  3. Ghana is an African country, and Africa owns 65% of the world’s arable land, which is a great opportunity for agricultural development and productivity and needs the application of technology to accelerate it.
  4. Ghana is endowed with energetic and brilliant young people who are passionate about the pursuit of technology for national and socio-economic transformation.
INSTITUTION OF THE WORLD TECHNOLOGY FORUM

The World Technology Forum is established to be not just an event, but a global platform for public–private cooperation which will foster strong solidarity between all entities having roles to play in the world technology landscape.

It is Incorporated under the Statutory Laws of Ghana, the Companies Act 2019, Act 992 in its name: The World Technology Forum LBG – Company Limited By Guarantee (International Non-Profit Organisation).

Forum is developed to have well-structured organisational architecture spanning across all sectors relevant to economic development and societal transformation. To conform with quality standards of establishing and managing its departments, directorates, divisions, agencies, units and sections as required for productive operation to achieve its goals and aspirations.

INTENDED OUTCOMES AND IMPACT OF THE FORUM

The World Technology Forum is envisioned to operate as a global platform to bring together stakeholders from a wide range of sectors for public-private engagement on issues of Science, Technology and Innovation; expected to address challenges, risk factors and opportunities and possibilities in the future. After the implementation of the Forum, it will not be just an event but also give birth to an institution that will run on a daily bases to implement ideas, action plans, proceedings of conventions, compacts, memoranda of understanding and programmes of action to enable the set objectives to be achieved. The following are the ways through which the Forum intends to achieve these outcomes.

  1. Strategic and Evidence-based policy for technology development and implementation frameworks.
  2. Coordinated platforms for relevant knowledge sharing and information on technological applications to accelerate the transformation of developing economies.
  3. Actionable programmes and projects for infrastructural development in Science, Technology and innovation sectors.
  4. To institute a strategic mechanism for Government to monitor and evaluate public policy outcomes regarding technology to aid economic transformation.
  5. Develop a set of standards, guidelines and regulatory frameworks to govern the deployment of technology systems for national development.
  6. Effective and efficient strategic mechanisms for financial resources mobilisation to adequately invest in technology systems and infrastructure.
  7. Consolidate existing systems to bring improved and better outcomes from public-private cooperation for enhanced development in technology sectors.

SECTOR-SPECIFIC CONTRIBUTION AND PRIORITY AREAS

The Forum is aspiring to be a partner for national development in Ghanaian society, due to this it has identified some key sectors which are critical to the economic prosperity agenda of the state and so the Forum has the mission of making a significant contribution to these sectors to complement the effort of the Government of Ghana as the host country of the Forum. Below are the sectors;

CONTRIBUTION TO SPECIFIC POLICY IMPLEMENTATION

The World Technology Forum will position itself as an instrumental platform and policy think tank to advise on national issues regarding public policy development, execution, monitoring and evaluation. It will also administer programmes in the area of policy communication to enhance public understanding in Ghanaian society. Partnership, collaboration and solidarity with Ministries, Departments and Agencies will be the pillars on which these objectives will be achieved. Below is a list of the policies identified.
